Vampire Quarterly is a quarterly "newsletter/information zine covering vampires, werewolves, ghouls, ghasts, Jerry Falwell, and other monsters." [1]
It had articles, book reviews, movie reviews, short fiction, and poetry. First issue had eight pages and was letter sized , later issues were digest-sized with the number of pages ranging from 26 to 60 pages. With issue no.8, letters were no longer being printed due to the fact the issues had grown to 60 pages. Also issue no. 8 was the last issue that had fiction and poetry. A separate index was published for the first eight issues.
Issue 1 (1985: Aug)
"Vampire quarterly is designed as a newsletter/forum where monstrous thoughts and feelings can be expressed, views exchanged, and old and new information brought to light. No doubt as the number of VQ readers increase, so will the size of Vampire quarterly, which is why we are unable to set a subscription price (once things settle down, we'll see what we can do)"

"Your idea of a Vampire quarterly sounds fun. I Like Frank Langella's Dracula. Have you ever read a wonderful series by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro about a charming vampire named St. Germain? She has about five books in her series and I like him very much. If you have never read about him you should be able to find him in the library. One is 'Tempting fate" and is the newest one out."

" I have rec'd issue 2 of the 'Vampire quarterly" and I love it. One of the reasons I love is due to the fact you tell how I can buy 'The spy who drank blood' by Gordon Linzner. Do you have any idea how long I have been looking for that book? I didn't know if it was a new book or an old one. Have you heard of 'Tabitha Ffoukles' by John Linssen? I have a hardback copy I got from a discount store, but have never seen it again. It is a must for vampire novel collectors. It's a love story about a reformed vampire and his favorite lady .. who is a mere mortal until she takes up with Georg, 450 year old vampire. The story is told from her POV in 1st person and it is quite funny. The ending is unexpected and I liked it, but some people may not.... Then there is 'The Thirst' by Robert McCammon, available in paperback, if you can find it.. This is a rather messy book as vampires wipe out Los Angles... It's good tho'. Not as corny as the synopsis sounds."

"Thanks for Vampire Quarterly #3. I've been meaning to write, but I've just survived a major job change and things are only now beginning to quiet down. I enjoyed the letters in issue 3, especially the one from Robbie Sturm which mentioned the novel 'Tabitha Ffoukles' by Linsen. It is a very funny book, and I want to put in my vote concerning the ending -- I Liked it. It's out of the ordinary but still plausible. By the way you might try borrowing the book though the interlibrary loan service at your local public library. It beats waiting for the book to be reprinted! Reference horror stories in fandom. I had a vague memory of 'a vampire on the Enterprise' type story, so I checked Trekindex. Both of the volumes I have (1977-78 and 1978-79) list VAMPIRES as a subject heading. The story I was thinking of is titled Carmilla by Rebecca Ross and it appeared in Southern Star 3, which I believe is out of print. Carmilla Lee is a lieutenant in Security abroad the 'E' and is several centuries old. She is also a member of the 'Brotherhood" which is a mutual protection/policing society for vampires."

"Dear Susan, Enjoyed VQ #5 as usual. I like reading letters by other fans and also poetry and stories. I like to read other people comments on books, movies, etc. and at the same time enjoy the reviews that YOU do. Don't see why we can't have everything. If you don't like the letters, skip 'em. Of course, it's all up to you, Susan. You're the one who has to retype everything, right? I know VAMP got loust movie reviews but I thought it was okay. Didn't see as much as Grace J. as I hoped and it was a bit gorier than I had anticipated at least in the beginning, but aside from the fact that they couldn't decide whether it should be a comedy or serious, it was certainly better than FRIGHT NIGHT! The kids were cuter, smarter, and better actors .. except for the Japanese guy. Was glad when he got his. Nothing against Japanese actors here, just couldn't stand the character."

"I like the cover of #6 and just read that Elsa Lancaster died recently. Apparently, her best known role was that of the bride of 'the monster'. Regarding the letter writer who find most fanzine fiction a waste of his or her time, all I can say is that said writer can skip that part because I'm sure most of the rest of us don't agree. We may not be professional writers but even THEY had to start somewhere. I know of a couple of people who now publish pro novels who got their start in fan-fiction, besides there are a lot of good writers out there. So hear from some of them. Don't let the grumps get you down. Has anyone heard any recent news regarding Stephen Kaplan's Vampire Research Center in NYC? Please don't tell me I dreamed the whole thing. I actually owned a book put out by him at one time which I foolishly gave away.'
