Talk:Good Omens (TV)
split page
Splitting this out from the book fandom per the Talk page discussion on what is now Good Omens (book) during May 2022. I have all the information regarding the TV fandom saved from the original page, but it took me a couple hours to cull it all out, so I’m taking a break & will add it all here within a day or two. - OK well it did take me longer than a day or two, but I’m adding all the information here, regarding the TV fandom, that I split off from the original combined fandom page, so I will also be removing the Stubs category from here SecurityBreach, because this was just a placeholder until I organized and copied back in all the TV fandom information, while I will also be adding the Examples Wanted tag in certain places attempting to match our discussion on the book fandom Talk page. Neil’s responses to Asks
The original unified fandom article mentioned that Neil Gaiman answered Asks from fans on his Tumblr but didn’t have any examples. When I built out this TV fandom page, I went to look for at least one example to reference. Meanwhile, I also found this A Gentle Reminder which, while not an Ask (so I didn’t include it as an example of that) is definitely an example of his interaction with fans. Where should we put this? Also I think I’ll probably add the Examples Wanted category for Sheen and Gaiman’s interactions specifically, because they’ve been so active. Joanna R (talk) 03:00, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
- Late, and someone already added a good demonstrative ask to the page (it's someone asking about how Gaiman deals with the volume of asks that he gets lol) but some others that are asking directly about the canon:
- 5 June 2017 Asking about whether a GO TV series will happen
- 27 June 2017 asking about Casting announements
- 18 December 2017 Asking about the sequel/tv series coverage
- 16 December 2017 asking if Gaiman is proud of the Tv adaption
- 11 December 2017 Asking about a headcanon Gaiman had based on the TV series set
- 11 December 2017 Asking how to pronounce "Crowley"
- 9 December 2017 asking about licensing of Queen songs for the TV series
And these are just randomly picked from a couple dates near when the TV was announced. I didn't check every month in between but my impression is that there's been a pretty steady stream of asks posted consistently for the past seven years, maybe more. -- Quaelegit (talk) 07:40, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
Keeping the Gaiman Controversy Mostly off this page
I'm thinking we should keep the accusations against Neil Gaiman mostly off the Good Omens page. Also, it seems strange to put on the Good Omens page when Gaiman is involved in a lot of other popular projects, like Sandman, Dead Boy Detectives, etc. I think they should be on the Neil Gaiman page itself, or if the section gets big enough it should have its own page. I think there should just be a sentence on this page saying something to the effect of "There have been accusations against Neil Gaiman that have effected the fandom, please see [link to Neil Gaiman page] for more information" or something like that. -- Kingstoken (talk) 11:09, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, good point. It makes sense not to use the Good Omens article to to document things concerning Gaiman himself and the broader fandom for his works. But maybe there should be a section on this page documenting the specific impact and reactions of the Good Omens TV fandom to this news. If and how Good Omens fans are variously deciding to change their engagement with Good Omens, if any portions of Good Omens fans feel the need to step away or exit the fandom, any Good Omens fan works abandoned or started in reaction, etc. Maybe articles for The Sandman, Dead Boy Detectives, etc could have similar sections for reactions specific to those fandoms. —PictoChatCyberBully (talk) 22:46, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
Some opinions "old school" and "show" GO fandom
Was looking for something else and I stumbled across this conversation[1]

I just... I was never really in old school good omens fandom that much but goddamn do I miss it.Not to be snarky about the show stuff but it is such a different feel.

Right? It felt like it would always be there, just ticking along in the background when I felt like a visit. And maybe it still is, somewhere under all that, but you can't find it anymore.
[lannamichaels]If I wanted religion-related angst, I would pay attention to my real lifeBut yeah, honestly, old school good omens was that their primary place of existence, and entire scope of their lives, was the bookstore. Prime L-space crossover appeal! Old married bickering couple! No one sells any books! Located in London! Perfect crossover bait! Gayer than a treeful of monkeys on nitrous oxide!
Not sure where it should fit on the page but I thought it was interesting. -- Quaelegit (talk) 07:49, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- Maybe this would work on the book fandom page Good Omens (book)? -- Kingstoken (talk) 09:43, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
