Talk:Closer (Star Trek vid)

Possibly this should be renamed to "Closer (vid)"? Or even "Closer (K/S vid)"? There's a show called The Closer, and a movie called Closer, both of which have at least a little fannish activity around them, and there's at least one other well-known vid to the same song (sisabet's Angel vid).--Arduinna 01:08, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I agree. Closer is now a disambiguation page that links here. -- Melina 01:18, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, I should have read here first - I believe we discussed in earlier wiki stages about naming fanworks pages thus (with author etc), will put this on the naming conventions page. *runs off to create* --Hope 09:39, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

ana: I admit I don't understand why this page is is in the "press" category. It's been talked about in the press, but.... lots of things have. ...Hm, although I guess the "Closer went viral in 2006 and was discussed extensively online as an example of context collapse. " thing makes that relevant - the categorization might become more clear why it's there once it's not a stub anymore. Hope: It might just be worth putting a section on that page about its prominence in the press rather than cross-catting it, though.--anatsuno 11:54, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Seconded. The other entries in the "Press" category are (so far) all titles of articles published in mainstream media.--Aethel 16:19, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
I agree. According to the description of the "Press" category this article appears to be miss categorized. Now an article published in mainstream media written about Closer would fit, but I would think it would have it's own page since it would most like include other fanworks not just Closer. I also have doubts about this article belonging in the "Perspectives on Fans" category too. --elgraves 23:40, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

date

It appears this vid was available to fans in 2003, according to one fan's comment. Does anyone know where? Is the 2004 date a reflection of it being shown in a larger venue, or was it shown at Shore Leave at a private setting? --MPH (talk) 20:58, 18 November 2016 (UTC)

A different issue of dates -- in this article it says that Closer was in the Test Suite of Fair Use Vids in 2012, but the page for that project lists it as being used in 2009. Sobqjmv sphinx (talk) 15:37, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

It definitely was not available in 2003. I edited it in the spring of 2004, and it was shown to a small group of fans at Shore Leave 2004. It was then shown to a small group of fans at VividCon 2004 in a room party. It did not exist in 2003.

I'm going to edit the page to reflect 2004, not 2003. MPH 02:07, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
