Talk:Animated Gif
I feel like this page could also benefit from having some screenshots of animated gifs in fannish context, like Tumblr reblog chains. Of course, since they would be screenshots, they wouldn't really be animated anymore, though. I also thought that we could use some examples of transformative gifsets, but I can't seem to find any examples I like at the moment. Cerignola (talk) 03:45, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
Animated Titles
Should animated titles used on websites be put here? They are obviously animated gifs, from a technical perspective; but they are also clearly put to a very different purpose. --Greer Watson (talk) 01:02, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
- I think a section on "Animated Titles" would belong here.--aethel (talk) 01:06, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
- Right. In that case, I'll look out a few FK examples (those being the websites I'm familiar with). --Greer Watson (talk) 01:23, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
Static Gif Set
Should the Harry Styles one go somewhere else? It doesn't "move," at least not for me. --MPH (talk) 18:37, 26 July 2015 (UTC)
- No, it's a screencap of an entire gifset. There's no way to make it move without uploading 9 hi-res gifs. I added another link to the original.--aethel (talk) 23:59, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
"Story" Gifs
I have fond memories from the mid-00s of a specific gif type that would basically tell a long story through a sequence of images with captions that the viewer would sit and watch. There was one that imagined a phone conversation between P. Diddy and Bjork, for example, and a couple of Lord of the Rings ones that I remember - one was called "Boromir's Imaginary Phone", and another one depicted Frodo being catapulted towards Mount Doom, ring and all, in order to destroy the One Ring. xD These were the "AU gifsets" of their time, basically, before internet speeds made actual sequences of gifs possible.
I'd like to add this type and some examples to the page, but what would you call this type of gif? A "story gif" maybe? Or "gif story"? "Gif sequence"? --enchantedsleeper (talk) 21:39, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what the proper term is, I like "gif story" and "Gif sequence", however, I do think I have seen the type of gif you're talking about called a "combined gif", but that might be too broad a term, because it doesn't necessarily denote a story element -- Kingstoken (talk) 23:38, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
