Aubrey/Sunny is the Het pairing of Aubrey and Sunny in the surreal psychological horror RPG OMORI. It is the second most popular ship in the fandom on Archive of Our Own, closely following Hero/Mari.[1]
Canon
Aubery and Sunny are childhood friends, living in the same neighbourhood for all their lives and being part of the same friend group, along with Sunny's sister Mari, and their mutual friends Hero, Kel, and Basil. When they were children, Sunny would always ask to see photos Basil took of Aubery. When Basil asked if Sunny had a crush, Sunny didn't answer, but blushed quite a bit.
In Headspace, a world Sunny imagines to suppress trauma, Aubery shows signs of having a crush on Omori, Sunny's Headspace counterpart. One of her Follow Ups, moves one can use in battle after attacking to get a stat boost or an extra attack, has her looking at Omori with a heart in a text bubble. These Follow Ups get stronger as the game progresses. At its weakest, Aubery looks at Omori, Omori doesn't notice, so Aubery attacks again. At mid-strength, Aubery looks at Omori, Omori doesn't notice, so Aubery attacks with extra strength. At its strongest, Aubery looks at Omori and he notices, so she attacks with extra strength out of joy.
Fandom
Aubery/Sunny is a dominant pairing in the OMORI fandom due to a combination of the childhood friends to lovers trope, the canonical crush Sunny has on Aubery, and the implied crush Aubery has on Omori in Headspace.
The ship name Sunburn comes from Sunny's name and Aubery's firey disposition, both in Headspace and the real world. It is also a play on the word sunburn.
