Hero is one of the main characters in Omori, and is part of Sunny's former childhood friend group.

Canon

Headspace

The oldest of the dream world party, Hero is a charming, enigmatic teenage boy with a liking for the culinary arts, and of helping people with their problems. He also exhibits his fairness and fatherly conviction whenever his friends Aubrey and Kel argue with each other. In addition to that, his primary love interest is, always first and foremost, Mari.

When in battle, he's usually the last to act, and the lowest attack of the four, due to him not wanting to hurt people. He withstands the fiercest of attacks the strongest, and thus, can hold out on his own for much longer.

He has a covert fear of spiders, and anything resembling their structure.

Real world

He is Kel's older brother, and unlike his younger Headspace counterpart, has given up culinary arts entirely to take up an undergraduate degree in medicine out of town. Amongst his other friends, Hero is the moodiest, showing his anguish the most, towards Mari and her untimely passing, even years later. He also is talented in multiple disciplines.

Even at the canonical present, his aforementioned primary fear had gotten worse, to the point he simply is rendered unable to act whenever he catches the glimpses of one inside.

Fandom

As Hero by himself is considered one of the "adults" by the fandom, although not quite old enough, and considering his handsome personality, fanworks generally revolve around the latter, including memes and edits.

Memes

"Hero smiling while Depressed" is one of the major memes surrounding the character, of which it refers to his battle portrait whenever he feels either Sad or Depressed, and he uses skills that make use of his charming ability. The earliest instance of such a meme was posted by Tumblr user kitsdreaming on February 11, 2021 (although its source post was now deleted as of November 2023). Introspectively, this particular meme somehow summarizes the general emotional vibe of most of the fandom's members.
