Ray Palmer is a DC Comics character that is known as the superhero Atom. He is currently appearing on the live-action series Legends of Tomorrow, spin-off of Arrow & The Flash, portrayed by Brandon Routh.

Canon Overview

Ray made his first appearance in Showcase #34 (October 1961). He has the ability to shrink and grow his body and other objects to varying degrees (including the subatomic level) while manipulating his weight to his advantage. His name is an in-joke, as he was named after science fiction fan turned prozine editor Raymond A. Palmer.

In Season 4, it's revealed that he accidentally shrunk himself down and was kidnapped by Damien Darhk. He joins the team on Legends of Tomorrow, hoping to find purpose again and to defeat Vandal Savage.
