Nifra Idril is a fanfiction writer who was active circa 2003 to 2006. She posted her first due South story in 2004 but drifted away from the fandom after about a year.
Writing Style
Nifra's due South stories are primarily Fraser/Kowalski with some great gennish character pieces. Sageness describes her writing as:
- "[…] full of poetic constructions, vivid detail, and musical sensibility. I could get happily lost in her word choice and the flow of her sentences, even while an economy of words keeps her stories mostly around flashfic length. Her character voices are dead-on, and her RayK is wonderfully matter-of-fact. The way she writes yearning between people is, for me, palpable and delicious."[1]
Notable Works
due South
- A Kingdom Filled with Snow (Fraser/Kowalski, July 2004) A fairytale where Fraser is the son of the Snow King.
- Grooving Up Slowly (Fraser/Kowalski, August 2004)
- Voices Prophetic and Patient (gen, September 2004) – a crossover with Neil Gaiman's Sandman series. Fraser meets Dream.
- Watershed (Fraser/Kowalski, October 2004) Often recommended, this is the longest of Nifra's due South stories.
- Nothing (Stella/RayK, October 2004) The end of Stella and RayK's marriage.
- You & I Are ____, co-written with pearl_o (November 2004)
- Consider the Lilies of the Goddamned Field (Fraser/Kowalski, March 2005)
Wilby Wonderful
- You're Going to Rise Up Singing (Duck/Dan, April 2005) Wherein Dan discovers the Watch and the ending reverses a common Duck/Dan!trope in a lovely way.
Yuletide
- Waste Our Lights In Vain (Shakespeare; Mercutio/Tybalt, Mercutio/Romeo), written for Yuletide 2004.
