A Newsies Geek Code, inspired by the common practice of creating Geek Codes, was created by fan Wish in 2003.[1]
Instructions
To start off the code write down: [Start Newsies Geek Code V.1.0]
So your Newsies Code does not get out of control and overpowers your siggy, you should limit the characters in your Code to the necessary few that you want to tell the world your feelings about.
Modifiers
Use these modifiers with the character codes following:
| --- | Cannot tolerate this character at all. Period. |
| -- | Don't like the character. Sorry. Wait, actually I'm not sorry. So Nyah! |
| - | Wish this character wasn't on screen as much. |
| 0 or plain code | No real feelings either way about this character. |
| + | Like this character. |
| ++ | Big fan of the character. ::applauds at screen and throws roses their way:: |
| +++ | Thanks the Newsie Muse for this character. Pays attention to every word this character utters. ::latches onto character with a vice-like grip:: |
| ^ | Totally angry with the casting director for putting in this character. |
| @ | Is deliriously happy with the casting director for putting in this character. |
| % | Scratch this character, I'll make up my own character! |
| & | I don't look like this character, but I do a good visual impression of this character. |
| # | I don't sound like this character normally, but I do a good vocal impression of this character. |

And if you're very spiffy, you can add in links to your site/group.

If you have more than one site just put a number after each $WEB ($WEB1, $WEB2...etc.)
And just to distinguish yourself even more from other newsie fans, add your own signature phrase. Like, "Stalking one inbox at a time with Skittery at my side." And please no biting off of other peoples catch phrases. Be original! You don't want people getting pissed off. For example, don't use my phrase and replace Skitts with another character and say "Oh but it's different." Uh-uh, think again.
