Crutchie, also spelled Crutchy, is a supporting character in the film and stage musical Newsies. He is Jack Kelly's best friend or "brother" and is called Crutchie for his crutch, which some theorize he needs due to post-polio syndrome.

Crutchie is typically given the name Charlie by fans.
One fan claimed in 2004 that historic newsboy Crutch Morris had the name Charles.[1]
The name Charlie appeared in a 2014 Jack/Crutchie fic which received only 6 favorites.[2] It showed up again in another fic with similarly few interactions.[3]
Fanfiction authors were using the name Charlie in 2017[4][5] and it was the general fanon name by 2018.[6][7][8][9][10]
