Patrick is a faceless Newsies character known only through the character of his mother, who appears for about a minute in the film.

Who is Patrick?
Patrick's identity has been theorized for many years, usually in the context of his being one of the introduced newsboys. Spot is generally considered the most viable theory in the current fandom, as he was not present during Patrick's mother's scene, and he was proposed as early as 1999.[1] (As a result, Patrick is often written as his middle name.)[2] This was semi-common fanon by 2013.[3] Other theories have included Snipeshooter and Mush.
Other fans criticize these theories, usually with the argument that Patrick is not meant to be a character, only an archetype of a newsboy.[4][5] In a similar manner, fans of the original film often cast Blanket, himself an unnamed side character, as Patrick, presumably based on visual appeal.
The Broadway production of Newsies brought on the interpretation of new character Finch as Patrick. Fans could buy official trading cards with more details on each character, and Finch's card listed his "real" name as Patrick Cortes.[6][7]
