Kris/Silver, known mostly as RedemptionShipping and/or シルクリ (Shirukuri), is a common ship in the Pokémon fandom. It pairs Kris (Kris) and Silver (Silver), the female playable character and the player's rival in Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal respectively.

When Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver released in 2009, SoulSilverShipping, which pairs Silver and Lyra, overtook Kris/Silver in popularity, though it also made Kris/Silver much more popular in turn by giving more attention to the pairing.

SpecialJewelShipping, which pairs Crystal and Silver, is its cross-canon counterpart in the Pokémon Special manga.

-Shipping Name Origin

"RedemptionShipping" came from Kris being able to "redeem" Silver as the two develop on their journey. The name was coined sometime between 21 December 2005[Notes 1] and 12 October 2007.[Notes 2]

"SpecialJewelShipping" likely was coined earlier, as Shadowcat on Serebii.net came up with it sometime circa. 2005.[Notes 3] By 26 December 2005, it was seen as their official ship name.[Notes 3] It comes from both characters (Silver and Crystal) being named after minerals, as well as their origin in the Special manga.[Notes 4]

Redemptionshipping also used to have a small section on Bulbapedia, which can be seen here (in archived form), Archived version.
