Kiyondo Ishida is the fanon name of a character from Dangan Ronpa. He is semi-prominent within the series and popular with fans. Kiyondo Ishida came about during the third part of Dangan Ronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, where Kiyotaka Ishimaru, out of grief, began to believe that the spirit of Mondo Oowada possessed him. From this, Ishimaru began to believe this made him a new man: Ishida in the original Japanese release, coming from Ishimaru Oowada, and Kiyondo in the official English translation, coming from Kiyotaka Mondo. Fans may headcanon that the character's full name is Kiyondo Ishida, though this is fanon. He did not survive the Mastermind's Killing Game.

Fans have several interpretations for who exactly Ishida is and what fanon could improve upon the character.

Popular Tropes & Fanon

Alter AU

Some fans believe that Ishida was an alter of Ishimaru, arising from grief, or could otherwise be interpreted as an alter. There's been some DID meta regarding the topic, since some plural fans dislike the idea.[1]

Twin Brother AU

Some fans like to imagine that Ishida is Ishimaru's twin brother or is otherwise related to him. This is more common in Japanese-speaking DR fandom.

  • Ishida is also commonly shipped with Genocider Syo in a gen (combi in Japanese) relationship. Both are frequently drawn together and are considered, "alternates," to existing characters.
