Hidan is a character from Naruto and a member of the criminal organization Akatsuki. He's presented as Kakuzu's partner. Both are referred to as Zombie Combo due to their immortality. Hidan is a religious fanatic from Yugakure who worships a deity named Jashin and sacrifices people their name through a ritual. Hidan carries a three-bladed scythe, designed to wound rather than kill. He only needs a drop of blood from his enemies to make the ritual.

Fandom

Hidan's character is interpreted differently in Western and Japanese fandoms. He is a character that refers to others disrespectfully, using ruder versions of the pronoun "you". In the translation, the only way to convey this rudeness and lack of respect is through profanity. In Japan, he's seen as an aggressive, religious fanatic with a below average intelligence. In the Western fandom, he usually swears a lot and insults everyone. The amount of profanity in his dialogue varies from author to author.
