Gordie is a Gym Leader in Pokémon Sword, released in 2019. He is only in Pokémon Sword, with Melony, his mother, replacing his role as gym leader of Circhester in Pokémon Shield.

In acronym ship names, Gordie is represented with "mk," short for his Japanese name Makuwa. The acronyms were created by the Japanese side of the fandom mostly on Twitter before being adopted elsewhere. Common portmanteaus also originate from Pixiv unless it uses their English names.
