Akari is a playable character in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, released in 2022. She is a fan favorite and gets focus in many fanworks. She is seen as a spiritual successor to Dawn, who was originally introduced in 2006's Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Some fans may consider them to be the same person, though this is only fanon.
Her male counterpart is Rei. In-game, the other playable character who was not chosen is an NPC that's in the player's social circle.
