Yamato is a supporting character from Naruto.

History

Yamato is a character that appeared at the beginning of Shippuden, as a replacement teacher for Team 7 when Hatake Kakashi is incapacitated. He is mostly known for having the Mokuton, the legendary wood release, and being able to contain the Kyubi at least in the early stages.

He got his Mokuton from an experiment conducted by Orochimaru on 60 children, from whom he is the only survivor. Following the discovery of Orochimaru's lab, he is enrolled into Root. At some point in Root he met Kakashi, who later got him out of the organisation. After that, Yamato became a regular Anbu, until Tsunade assigned him to Team 7.

Yamato had several names :

  • Kinoe, from his early years in Root (anime filler only)
  • Tenzo, a name that he choose himself after being rescued by Kakashi
  • Yammato, a name given to him by Tsunade when she assigned him to Team 7.

Common Pairings

Yamato's most common pairing is Yamato x Kakashi, due to their common past in Anbu/root, and their sempai/kohai relationship. His most common het pairing is Yamato x Anko, with their trauma-bonding over Orochimaru.
