Excerpts

XFFFA- What is it about the X-Files that got you hooked on the show?

RA- The first episode I watched was Dod Kalm and I was immediately struck by the energy between Mulder and Scully. It got me hooked right away. I was really impressed with the intensity and the maturity of their interactions.

XFFFA- If you could be any character on the X-Files who would it be and why?

RA- That's a really difficult question. My automatic first response is Scully because she has so many qualities (intelligence, strength, beauty, poise, and so on...) that I would love to possess myself. But I'm pretty sure I wouldn't actually want to be living her life. She's been through hell really. Then again, Mulder's been through the ringer himself. I dunno, I'd actually be pretty hard pressed to find a happy character on the X-Files who isn't completely aggravating.

XFFFA- What is your favorite season? Why?

RA- I think it's a tie between season two and season five. I loved the grainy, edgy feel of season two. Colony/End Game is wonderful for that. There's just something so raw and unpolished about those episodes and it's great. And I love watching the evolution of the Mulder/Scully relationship in that season. One Breath is still one of my absolute favorite episodes. Season Five just catered directly to the shipper in me. Redux 2 and PMP especially. They managed to show quite clearly that these people are in love without being corny or beating the audience over the head with it.

XFFFA- Was it a chance occurrence that you came across all the X-File related material on the internet? Or was it a determined search?

RA- I searched for it. And boy was I shocked and delighted that there was so much out there!

XFFFA- How did you discover X-Files fanfiction? Was is through a website or newsgroup?

RA- Towards the beginning of the fourth season I found the Institution for Relationshippers and their fanfiction links introduced me to the whole thing.

XFFFA- Did you read anyone else's fanfiction that inspired you yourself to write? If so, do you remember who it was or the title of it?

RA- Madeleine Partous was a huge inspiration for me. She was the first author whose work I completely fell in love with. Her Puppets series I,II,III, was amazing and I loved Meredith's Birthday as well. She sort of made me realize that it was possible to write smut and still write well.

XFFFA- What is your favorite classification of fanfic to read? What class do you prefer to write?

RA- It's funny because when I first started reading I would only read MSR. After a long time of that I got completely burnt out on it and started reading Krycek stories and nothing but. Now I'm pretty much open to any classification as long as it's well written. I've read some wonderful stories in the past couple of months which I wouldn't have even opened a year ago because of the characters involved. As for writing, I'm on a Krycek kick lately. I just find him such a challenge and a thrill to write about.

XFFFA- Where do you see yourself next year when the series comes to an end?

RA- Hopefully living my life as well as I can. I'll be very sad to see the show come to an end but I'm pretty sure I'll carry on in more or less the same aimless fashion as ever. If something else inspires me to write the way that this show has I'll be very happy.
