Hello! My name is sharkcat and I joined Fanlore in October of 2023. I love fan maintained and run wikis (except Fandom.com, fuck Fandom.com) as well as fandom culture in general so Fanlore is a wonderful website for me.

I hope to contribute to Fanlore through cleaning up pages, fixing errors, expanding on information, and maybe by creating a new page every once in a while :D I'm not the most active or talkative person but I love to help where I can.

- Nintendo modding is a notable community. 3DS modding in particular is very popular (at least from my perspective)
- Pirate disambiguation page has some relevant topics (flashcarts, emulation, video game piracy)
- Approval and disapproval from companies (Nintendo especially doesnt like 3ds moddders (that one update solely to make modding slightly more difficult despite the console being long dead by nintendo))
- mods also allow greater customisability of consoles and allows expression of fandoms (see: custom 3ds badges, themes, etc)
- Modding also allowing a consoles lifespan to be expanded past what the company wants (see: 3DS eshop shutdown and upcoming 3DS online services shut down. Projects such as Pretendo working to recreate servers for players)

Shipping Meme Research

the google trends data for 'shipping meme' vs 'ship meme' show that 'ship meme' has become the more popular name for the concept but all the early versions were using 'shipping meme'. that data also supports them being created around the 2010s and then starting to become popular ~2 years later in 2012 which i think lines up with the frequency of what i saw when when looking for the "first" shipping meme in the draw lines format.

Lines meme shift to being in multiple rows instead of columns by gender. want to see if i can pinpoint shifts in formatting
