ClanGen is a free, open-source, Warrior Cats fangame where you simulate managing your own clan. It was originally developed by just-some-cat on Tumblr but was eventually taken over by SableSteel with a fan-edit.
History
just-some-cat first posted about the game on their Tumblr on December 5 2019.[1] The game was updated in June 2020.[2]
On December 22 2021, just-some-cat announced that they had dropped development due to them working on other projects but encouraged any other developers who were interested to make their own version.[3]
The fan, turned official, version was published to Itch.io on November 21, 2021.[4]
Mods
Fans have made mods for ClanGen to add new features, sprites, and gameplay aspects. Some popular examples are:
- LifeGen where you play as one of the cats instead of overseeing them all.
- Disorders and Disabilities Clangen Mod which adds various disabilities and disorders.
- Moss Mod which adds high-res sprites and new colour variations.

Videos
There is a fairly popular sub-community of ClanGen players who like to create detailed stories of their clans adventures in video form. These often accompany drawing timelapses of their cats. A popular format is often "[Number] Year(s) In _Clan" as it allows for an episodic nature to videos and provides a consistent video length.
