Excerpts

An undercover investigation of various lists associated with the Muggle Paradigm of Uncertainty mailing list has uncovered shocking information about the pasts of the four Listmoms.

As most witches and wizards are aware, the Muggle world features various forums for discussion of a series of books written by N.K. Rowling, and the list, also known as PoU, features ongoing discussion of certain stories which are based on Rowling's fictions. Rita Skeeter and her crack research team have methodically reviewed postings to this list, and others, including HarryPotterAnonymous and HarryPotterforGrownups, and have reviewed certain pages on Fanfiction.net, when it has been working, to create a profile of the various Listmoms.

So our readers can better understand the Listmoms, we have compiled a series of posts by Lori, Penny, Carole and Cassandra, for your review; due to the importance of publishing this rather long piece today, the first anniversary of the founding of the Paradigm of Uncertainty mailing list, we have delayed the publication of sports editor Angelina Johnson-Weasley's article on the newest Simon Branford™ Broomstick line until tomorrow. We apologize for the inconvenience.[1]

[Penny, February 7, 2000 on HP Anonymous]:

ROMANCE PAIRINGS: Ron and Hermione have plenty of potential -- lots of sexual tension in that relationship. I think there's a possibility for Harry and Ginny, although I'm not sure she is developed enough as a character yet for any of us to think she's quite right for him. She had such a small role in POA. It will be interesting to see how that turns out. She could develop into a character that we will all think is worthy of Harry's romantic partner. For now, I don't see any of the females currently in the cast as being quite "up to snuff" (I think Hermione is better with Ron so I've discounted her).

[Lori, March 16, 2000 on HPAnonymous]:

In case anyone's interested...I've started a post-graduation fic entitled "Harry Potter and the Paradigm of Uncertainty." Chapter 1 is now available. If you'd like to read it please email me privately.

[Penny, April 17]

BTW, perhaps I'm just being stupid, but what exactly is meant by "shippiness" in the context of H/H shippiness? Is that a Brit term I'm just not familiar with?

[Lori May 9, 2000 7:40pm]

Subject: Zoikies... Well, I've started posting PoU to Fanfiction.net...what a huge site! I just posted the first four chapters this afternoon and already I've received about 20 reviews and comments from readers. Talk about instant gratification.

[Carole, May 24, 2000]:

…before I began to read fanfic, I never dreamed there were so many people with so many opinions about who should end up with who...all we know from the canon is that Ginny has a crush on Harry, that Ron and Hermoine bicker, and that Harry thinks Cho is pretty (at 13)..........I realized JKR would be getting people involved with other people, but I didn't really care who went with who, because they are just kids....

[Cassie, August 10, 2000 on fanfiction.net]:

This is my first ever fic, so please review. If people like it, I'll continue the story, if everyone hates it…well, I won't!

[Cassie on fanfiction.net at the end of the last chapter of DD]:

note added later: Um, somebody asked me if I got the idea of "Magids" from Paradigm of Uncertainty, which has something similar..?. Well, I have never read Paradigm, and in fact I got the idea from a Diana Wynne Jones book called Deep Secret. So, sorry to the author of Paradigm…no offense intended.

*reminices* I remember this being posted back in the day - when I was a lurking newbie trying to figure my way around things and still wary about posting - and who didn't have as many HP-related Y!Groups as I do now - LOL - I do remember this when it first came out :D and how some were unsure who posted it at first *;) Though to see Ebony's and Heidi's name mentioned in the middle of it probably gave it a bit away ;)*

It was also from this that I learned of HPFGU and HPAnonymous and joined up both - though lurked there at both as I didn't have time to contribute to discussions - but that was how I got lead to those Y!Groups :D
