After going through the cluster of vid related pages and cleaning up wikilinks, it seems to me that we have a lot of discussion about making vids and the history of vidding (in media fandom): vidding et al, but we don't have any discussion of vids as an art form in the way that there are reams of pages specifically about fic as an art form. I'm thinking if we treat this page like the fanfic page as a jumping off point for discussions about vids, we might get some new pages or new sections on trope pages that are now very fic-centric. I, er, just don't really know how to structure this page to make that happen. Any suggestions or work on the page would be great.--facetofcathy 17:30, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

I'm fairly clueless about vids, I watch little, but there are a couple of vid-specific genre pages that could be linked here. Like Garbage Can Vid, Constructed Reality, metavid, podvid, and fic trailer. --RatCreature 18:56, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for those links--I didn't know about a few of those pages. well, the constructed reality page explains that it predates digital though, and metavid is not a digital thing either, nor is garbage can vid afaik, so I don't know why we'd put them there rather than in general vidding talk.--RatCreature 23:28, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

I'm open to moving it over here. Or to having a page on Vidding Aesthetics as a separate page--that was discussed on the Talk:Vidding page back when this page structure was formed. That might work best, keep the three glossary pages fairly short and concentrate the discussion in one place.--facetofcathy 23:35, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

Seconding that those genres of vids--constructed reality, garbage can--shouldn't be under digital vidding because they do predate. I'd say make a genre category under vidding or vid and if it gets big enough, it can be broken out into its own page. It also seems odd to list vids that are discussed in fanlore on the digital vidding page, FWIW--that seems like the sort of thing that you'd want a vid category for that you could click on and that would bring up all the different vids currently discussed in fanlore.
