Talk:Responsefic

I think "the story Take Clothes Off As Directed by Helenish was a response to the likeliness or unlikeliness of the universe created by Xanthe in her story, Coming Home" really needs a citation. I know there's been a lot of debate over that story and what it was or wasn't saying about "Coming Home," and while it's definitely a response to Xanthe's story, I think saying it's a response to its "likeliness or unlikeliness" needs to be backed up (or, maybe, phrased as "was seen by some fans as a response to ...").--Penknife 19:53, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

How about for now I change it to "was seen by some fans as a response to ...", and we keep our eyes open for citations?--Sherrold 22:51, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

WOW. Two thumbs up on the "response to responsefic" section. O_o I love the leap from "some fans feel it's unfair and bullying" to "all responsefic is cruel and passive-aggressive". --Kyuuketsukirui 09:33, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

I just changed part of that section and didn't see your comment. I haven't touched the cruel and passive-aggressive part. Any suggestions? --Doro 09:40, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Hee, we were editing at the same time. I was going to just ditch that sentence, because I honestly cannot find a way to spin it that doesn't come off as an accusation. Plus I don't see it as really relevant or true in the first place. I'm pretty sure that the reason nothing is done is because people who are in favor don't see it as cruel and passive-aggressive, and those who hate it, er, can complain, but not being the masters of fandom, can't really do much else. --Kyuuketsukirui 09:48, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Don't you just hate it when it says "Edit Conflict"? *g* I like your edit. Looks good now. :) --Doro 09:51, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

rebuttal story = responsefic?

I found an interesting discussion here about A Handful of Snowflakes and "rebuttal fic". Is "rebuttal story" a common term? Does it mean the same thing as responsefic? Should it get its own wiki page?--æthel 04:22, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

as I understand the terms responsefic is the more generic term, and rebuttal fic a specific kind of response. I think it could be handled here with a redirect, or crosslinked in its own glossary article. Frankly in my corner of fandom neither term is all that common.--RatCreature 09:14, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

Response Vid

Do we have a page for this? And is this a good way to name it? --Mrs. Potato Head 15:33, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Discussion here or seperate page for fic with multi responses?

Just added Amanuensis's And Just Plain Wrong (AJPW), a harry potter darkfic to the list. It's an exceptional example in that it inspired FOUR response fics by different authors, each doing different character POV's and pairings. (I also seem to recall (but not sure where to find the discussions) comments about how AJPW featured a 'death eaters run hogwarts' before this became canon, but that's rather tangental). Anyway, given the number of response fics, should they all be described on this page, or should a new page for AJPW be created with all the response fics described there? I haven't read all the sequels and don't think I can do a full description/discussion justice no matter where it is done. I did provide a reference for the sequels/links and there are two discussion links included on that ref page which can provide a starting point for anyone that would like to expand on this (more work probably needs doing, at least one fic was on geocities, and I know fans backed up most of the work originally hosted there, but not sure where or how to find it). --Alchemia (talk) 09:05, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

I would highly recommend a page for "And Just Plain Wrong." The response fics to AJPW could either each have short description on that page (or their own pages, with a link, if they are substancial enough. Then, the AJPW part on the responsefic page would have a short description and and a link to its own page. Even if all the responsefics are not available, they still need a mention, as well as perhaps short description, links, to discussion, and any reactions you can find. I wouldn't worry too much, Alchemia, about making the page complete yourself; even an outline is good, and hopefully others can expand on it. Sound good? --MPH (talk) 14:03, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

Removed Content

Is there a reason this was removed? "Cori Falls, in her heyday, wrote certain stories in response to the deathfic trend in Rocketshippy fandom, which she did not like." --MeeDee (talk) 15:52, 10 September 2017 (UTC)

Doh! I didn't see the refreshed edit. Ignore me.--MeeDee (talk) 15:54, 10 September 2017 (UTC)
