no idea

I have no idea how to work with this page. Can we just start over? --MPH (talk) 21:35, 31 March 2022 (UTC)

If we're starting over, we may need to untangle the related links - many of them link to a section of this page rather than the main page title itself.
I'm not sure what starting over would look like, as the topic of Fashion is very broad. I'm wondering if we need this page... Does anyone have thoughts on what should be the focus of this page? Or are we thinking of making this a disambiguation page/redirect?? --22:44, 31 March 2022 (UTC)
I'd vote for redirect or disambiguation. --MPH (talk) 00:55, 1 April 2022 (UTC)
Let's make this a disambiguation page. Currently the purpose of the page seems to be to organize IT fanart recs by type of clothing worn, but the page title says just Fashion and not It Fanart Organized by Clothing Worn. Unless it's nude art or porn, most fanart featuring people includes clothing, so I don't think even adding examples from other fandoms would be particularly meaningful or constitute a "trope". "Fashion" also doesn't make sense as a glossary page because it is just an English word and not specialized fannish terminology. There could be more specific clothing-related trope pages that this page could link to, plus various fan costuming practices. If a particular item of clothing or style of dress or historical period costume is particularly popular, we could create a trope page for that, but "fashion" is so overwhelmingly broad. We don't have a page for it yet, but we could make something for Fashion Industry AUs as well. Pages we have already include: Flower Crown, Holiday Hats, Ugly Holiday Sweater, Fannish Clothing, Category:Costuming, Body Modification.--aethel (talk) 18:48, 2 April 2022 (UTC)
I noticed a convergence, all pages created by the user who created this one are made exclusively to catalog specific parts of two projects, the IT fandom and Stranger Things. Most pages are stubs aimed solely at a particular artist or the pre-specified fandom. I understand that fans create projects to increase the number of pages and content on wikis, but the IT one specifically was done based on what criteria? A rising fandom with no danger of being lost from the internet, that is, deleted, gained a project driven by a few fans that crammed pages with index of everything. Sneezed in the fandom and used a scarf? Page. Did you change your shirt? Page. A specific sex scene? Page. Did you ride a bike? Page. What is the need for this? I had noticed this last year, I even got around to bookmarking some pages for the attention of gardeners, it would be good to check this user's edits to see if there are any other pages that need special attention that was created like this without much content or that doesn't cover the site's policies. Because it is no longer the first page related to this editor in question that has this type of discussion. (Please fans of the aforementioned fandoms, my problem is not with your project, nor with the work you like, much less with you. It is with the disorderly introduction of content on the site that only expands the number of pages related to fandoms, but without plausible content for it)

For example, taking a specific section of this page, it could be merged some category related to clothing, or winter, or demonstrations of affection, because you see, sharing an outfit would be plausible to be on these pages as a topic, but not relevant enough to have its own page -- Ellakbhesse (talk) 13:16, 11 April 2022 (UTC)

I think there is always going to be a certain level of differing interpretations by editors around what constitutes "documenting fandom"; in the case of this page, a misconception that having something appear in a fanwork means it should be documented, when there is a difference between e.g. tropes and characteristics that are unique to fandom and have their genesis in fandom, and something being present in a fanwork because it's part of the real world and therefore is likely to be depicted. (You may as well create a page for Houses (not the Hogwarts kind), or Pavements). I was going to make an argument for having a general page on fannish fashion until I realised that's exactly what Fannish Clothing is, so I would agree with the idea to make this a disambig page. Happy to do the honours if we're generally in agreement. --enchantedsleeper (talk) 22:37, 19 April 2022 (UTC)
