Merge pages?

I think Batfandom should be merged into this page. Baycitybomber (talk) 17:38, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

Agreed. :) Batfamily is often used to describe the fandom anyway. Though if a merge did occur, would the title be called Batfandom or Batfamily? Batfamily is more commonly used on Tumblr and AO3. But then Batfandom might be a better name for the entire Batman fandom including animation? Fitzaby (talk) 18:04, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
I'm only on the fringes of the fandom but I do think Batfamily is more accepted, so I'd call the page that. Baycitybomber (talk) 18:12, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
Batfamily is definitely the term familiar to comic book fans. --Greer Watson (talk) 03:41, 4 September 2017 (UTC)

Bat Family fandom is Batman fandom, but not all Batman fandom is Bat Family fandom

I think the Batman media franchise should have its own page with an overview of the different Batman fandoms. The Bat Family is a Batman fandom, but not all Batman media and related fandoms are considered Bat Family fandoms.

In my experience, the "Bat Family fandom" typically focuses on Batman having a familial dynamic with his protégés, who don't appear in all Batman media; media that features Bruce Wayne, Selina Kyle, and Alfred Pennyworth would not be labeled Bat Family. The Nolanverse, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice are not considered Bat Family fandoms. — PictoChatCyberBully (talk) 05:53, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

The February 25th Tumblr post ( https://sapodilas-moved.tumblr.com/post/644094507806277632/honestly-those-people-who-only-know-and-care-about ) is no longer available on the web and is not saved on the Wayback Machine -- at least, not in a way that I can access. -- Sobqjmv sphinx (talk) 8:14, 15 April 2022 (EST)

I checked archive.vn, but it doesn't seem to be archived there either, for now I would just put [dead link] or (offline, not archived) beside it for now, and if someone finds a reblog on tumblr at some point it can be added -- Kingstoken (talk) 13:55, 15 April 2022 (UTC)

Fan discourse and drama

This page might be ripe for more fan discourse.

  • Solo fans (e.g. Nightwing fans, Batgirl fans, Red Hood fans, etc)
  • anti-Batfamily
    • rivalries with other DCU fandoms
    • solo Batman fans vs Batfamily Batman fans
  • Depictions of fictional toxicity and abuse in Batfamily media
  • Newbies vs gatekeeping
  • Diversity (or lack thereof)

Development of fan view as "family"?

I'm not sure where to place this in the page, but I ran into a "Batman Family" site of potential interest -- http://web.archive.org/web/20040613075427/http://www.<nowiki>jacks.batcave.net/</nowiki> - Sobqjmv sphinx (talk) 03:53, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
