Spider-Man (2002-2007), sometimes stylized as the Spider-Man Trilogy, is three Columbia Pictures films directed by Sam Raimi focused on the Marvel Comics character with the same name. It stars Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson, James Franco as Harry Osborn, and J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson. All three movies were hits at the box office, although the third has mixed reviews.
Canon
Spider-Man (2002)
- When bitten by a genetically modified spider, a nerdy, shy, and awkward high school student gains spider-like abilities that he eventually must use to fight evil as a superhero after tragedy befalls his family.
Spider-Man 2 (2004)
- Peter Parker is beset with troubles in his failing personal life as he battles a brilliant scientist named Doctor Otto Octavius.
Spider-Man 3 (2007)
- A strange black entity from another world bonds with Peter Parker and causes inner turmoil as he contends with new villains, temptations, and revenge.
Due to the considerable success of the first film, two sequels were released and a fourth film was planned and was slated for a release in 2011, but was canceled in favor of a reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man, released in 2012. A spin off focusing on Venom, who is the primary antagonist of Spider-Man 3, was also being developed alongside Spider-Man 4 between 2007 and 2010. Later, it was intended to tie in to the Amazing Spider-Man universe, before finally being released in 2018 as a Marvel Cinematic Universe-adjacent film.

The upside-down kiss shared between Mary Jane and Spider-Man inspired many copies, both in fandom and in media. The third Spider-Man film produced a lot of mixed reviews from fans from the way Peter was portrayed under the alien symbiote which brings out Peter's "dark side" (basically a gothic outter appearance besides the black Spidey suit, darker personality, and a fondness of walking down the street dancing to 70s music. Crossovers are fairly common, often appearing within other superhero related fandoms such as Smallville, Heroes and Fantastic Four.
Some vidders or fanartists that create gifs or picspams often use a mixture aka mashup of the Spider-Man trilogy and The Amazing Spider-Man films to showcase Spider-Man and/or the other characters.

Male slash predominates in the fandom; the most popular pairings are Harry Osborn/Peter Parker and the canonical het pairing of Peter Parker/Mary Jane Watson. Peter Parker/Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane Watson/Harry Osborn were minor pairings in the fandom. Two other minor pairings of Peter/Felicia Hardy and Harry Osborn/Felicia Hardy due to Felicia Hardy/Black Cat not appearing in the trilogy.
