Shovel is a minor character and NPC from the game Baldur's Gate III. She can be gained as summoned familiar and is a murderous, cantankerous menace who delights in violence.
Canon
Shovel is a Quasit who dreams of becoming a dragon. She was the familiar of Ilyn Toth, a Red Wizard of Thay, and was treated cruelly. The player character can find her and recruit her as a familiar, after which she stays with the party for the rest of the story. She may be renamed to Basket or Fork.
Fandom
Shovel is often overlooked in fandom, with most fans expressing pleasant surprise that she is recruitable. She appears rarely in fanfiction, only tagged in a handful of fics on AO3. Shovel art is somewhat more common.
