- Baldurians: Both Astarion and Wyll are from Baldur's Gate. Their knowledge and love of the city is part of many works in the fandom.
- Becoming monsters: Due to Astarion's transformation into a vampire spawn and Wyll's punishment by Mizora if he fails to kill Karlach. Fans draw parallels between these two.
