Rose/Kanaya is a Homestuck femslash pairing involving Rose Lalonde and Kanaya Maryam.
Canon
Kanaya and Rose first talk after Kanaya is assigned to troll Rose, something she is first very reluctant to do. Kanaya originally learned about Rose when she read her walkthrough, leading her to idolize Rose's online handle The TentacleTherapist. However, her first conversation with her was actually with John (who was at Rose's computer), thus leading her to have misconceptions about Rose. These misconceptions are soon rectified as the two interact more, leading them to quickly become friends. Kanaya often worries about Rose and tries to discourage her risky plans in the early acts of the comic.
Over the three-year meteor journey, in both the pre-retcon and post-retcon timelines, Kanaya and Rose start a romantic relationship. Later the two go on a date which culminates in them kissing, confirming their relationship.
Sometime after the kids and surviving trolls entered the new universe, Rose and Kanaya get married, and subsequently oversee the future propagation of the Troll race together, with Rose helping Kanaya raise future generations of young trolls.
Fandom
Rose/Kanaya is one of the most popular pairings in the Homestuck fandom alongside John/Dave and Dave/Karkat. It became one of the largest femslash ships, although femslash is generally less common than het or slash within Homestuck fandom.
By Act 5 of Homestuck, the series' alien troll characters were properly introduced, including Kanaya. This marked the start of a huge increase in shipping activity as the cast grew to include the twelve new trolls. Kanaya's past, though unsuccessful, relationship with fellow troll Vriska Serket lead many fans to view her as a lesbian early on. Paired with her budding relationship with Rose, the ship quickly become popular. As the story progressed and the pairing became canon, its popularity only grew.
There was much celebration within the fandom when the two were shown to have married each other in the credits.
