Robin Mills is a character in the seventh season of Once Upon A Time. She is loosely based on the folklore character of Robin Hood, like her father.

Robin Mills is the daughter of Zelena Mills and Robin Hood.

Reception

Robin seems to have been received relatively well, though she often seems to be overshadowed by her love interest Alice and the ship of the two itself. Though most Curious Archer fans love, or at the very least like, her, there seems to be a general tendancy within the CA fandom to favour Alice over Robin, often due to greater audience relatability to the former, and likely partly influenced by Alice having more screentime overall than Robin. Analyses of her as a character seem to be less common overall than those for Alice.

Despite this, dedicated fans of hers, as well as metas, fanworks and fan posts/discussions, do very much exist.

Fanon

Robin's surname is never stated onscreen, however given her aunt's name, Regina Mills, many in the fandom use 'Mills.' Occasionally, Hood or a joint surname (something along the lines of Hood-Mills usually) are also used by fans. Some fanworks, particularly those in which her father is involved in some way, will often spell her first name 'Robyn' rather than the Canon Compliant 'Robin.'

Some in the fandom have been known to refer to her as the 'Lesbian Robin Hood.'

Queer Identity

Her sexuality is never explicitly mentioned onscreen, though many in the fandom headcanon her as being a lesbian. Other headcanons and fanworks have depicted her as being bisexual and other queer identities, such as both nonbinary and binary trans, have also been associated with her in the fandom.

Common Tropes and Themes

• Meeting her father - Usually in situations where he's brought back to life in some way, sometimes through the use of time travel.
• Meeting her brother - The only canon on-screen interaction between Robin and her half-brother Roland involved the former as a baby. In fanworks, the two will often meet.
• Canon Divergence AU - Similarly, fics in which her father never died in the first place are relatively common.
• Young Robin - Due to events in the finale, and the incorporation of time travel in the season, a younger version of Robin will also sometimes be featured in fanworks that involve older Robin.
• Complex Relationship with Zelena - The relationship she has with her mother, Zelena, is quite often explored within fanworks and headcanons, expanding on the slightly rocky dynamic they're shown to have at times during the show. Many will touch on the context of her conception - whether she knows about it, when & how she was told and what her reaction was, for instance.
