A Reverse Bang is a fanart/fanfic challenge akin to a Big Bang, only with the fanart created first to inspire the fic.
A Very Early Example of a Reverse Big Bang
Though it wasn't, of course, called this, the concept of challenging writers to create fanfiction based on an existing piece of art goes back a long way. One early example in media fandom is in the seminal print zine Interphase #2 (1975), in which fans were encouraged to write a piece of fiction which interpreted the art from the cover of issue #1 of that zine, as well as that of art by Signe Landon.
