polomonkey is a fan writer known for work in the Merlin fandom since at least 2013. polomonkey is also the moderator and maintainer of the Pornalot fest, which has run on Live Journal and in an AO3 collection. Most of polomonkey's works are shorter to medium sized fics but there are also a few longer Big Bang length works in their collection. These stories are primarily Merlin/Arthur stories though polomonkey has also written for Humans as well as a few Sherlock fics and crossover fandoms such as Harry Potter. Most of the works are Modern AU stories

In Spite of Everything, the Stars: collaboration with mushroomtale for the After Camlann Big Bang. Summary: "London. 2015. The government is set to vote on ending the microchipping of magic users, and Arthur Pendragon has been tasked with kidnapping prominent Magical activist Merlin Emrys to influence the outcome. Locked away in a house on the North York Moors, tensions rise and confrontation ensues as Arthur is forced to re-evaluate everything he’s been taught about magic, and Merlin finds himself in a struggle for his life. The Wasting Game
One of polomonkey's early stories, The Wasting Game, completed on October 23, 2013, is the writer's most popular work based on readership and response on AO3 where it has received well over 3000 kudos and over 500 bookmarks. The 47,021 word story centers on student age Merlin with an eating disorder. the5leggedCricket later created a remix entitled Gone (the The Wasting Game remix) in April 2016 for Camelot Remix.
Love Has Come to Town
Love Has Come to Town, completed on December 27, 2017 was part of the Merlin Holidays gift exchange. By contrast with Wasting, this 19,346 word story is a fluffy Modern AU fic. From the summary: "In which Arthur doesn't want to be with Merlin (except for the part where he does), Morgana's not afraid of committing to Gwen (except for the part where she is), and Elena can cope just fine with Mithian being over three thousand miles away (except for the part where she can't). It's a good thing Christmas is a time for miracles..."
A Song From Far Away
A Song From Far Away is a canon-divergent hurt/comfort story created for the 2016 After Camlann Big Bang, with art and fanmix from mushroomtale. The story was later translated by MarauderIvy in August 2017. From the summary, "When Arthur is captured by an enemy king intent on conquering Camelot, his future looks bleak. For Cenred commands not only a clutch of sorcerers but a fearsome dragon trained to do battle and wreak destruction. Then Arthur meets Merlin, a fellow captive whose magic has been bound to Cenred's will. But can Merlin resist Cenred's control long enough to help Arthur save Camelot?"
