Pietro/Wanda, most often known as Maxicest, is a het twincest pairing of Pietro (aka Quicksilver) and Wanda Maximoff (aka Scarlet Witch) from the Marvel Universe.

Although Pietro and Wanda are often portrayed as very close in various incarnations, sometimes bordering on hinting at something more, it's only in the Ultimate Universe that the incestuous relationship is canon.

Canon

Pietro and Wanda are brother-sister twins. In some universes, they're the children of Romani couple Django and Marya Maximoff. In other universes, they are the children of Erik Lehnsherr (aka Magneto), most usually with their mother being called Madga. In a subset of the Magneto's children incarnations, Lorna Dane (aka Polaris) is their much younger half-sister.

In the comics they're usually from Transia; in the MCU, from Sokovia.

In the comics, Wanda has twin sons, Tommy Shepherd and Billy Kaplan, sometimes called the "minimoff twins". They are supposedly conceived asexually, via magic. However, given that Tommy looks just like Pietro and shares his superpowers, Maxicest shippers suspect they may be the couple's children, conceived the normal smutty way.

I always viewed the mainstream SW/QS as being attracted to each other romantically and occasionally exploring that, but periodically backing off to try and give the other one a chance at a normal life, even though their jealousy can get the best of them (particularly Pietro’s). But, every once in a while… well, Wanda’s brother’s always available for a quickie.

X-Men: Evolution

While it was not one of the largest followings/shipping in the X-Men: Evolution fandom, it did create some fanworks dedicated toward the pairing. They had a more hate/love relationship in this universe, thus making it more likely to be shipped because of the UST.

In this one, it’s interesting because Pietro’s sort of the jerky-smug villain, and Wanda’s absent at first, […] as incest shipping goes, they’re not as good as the other ones, but, I don’t know why, I just like them more, maybe because it sets up a good dynamic where “first they hate each other, then suddenly in the middle of an argument they start making out.”

Marvel Cinematic Universe

The actors that portray them (Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen) have a film history together, notably Godzilla (2014) as a married couple. Many fans jumped onto the ship joining many comicverse fans that already shipped it. Various fanart, gifs and picspams were created showcasing Pietro/Wanda, usually using the actors scenes from Godzilla together with various MCU footage.

Common Tropes

  • Everybody Lives: MCU based fic where Pietro does not die, Wanda saving his life usually with some combo of her superpowers and the power of True Love.
  • Accelerated Metabolism: That Pietro's metabolism matches his powers is canon. It's fanon that this means he has virtually no refractory period, for PWP purposes.
  • MCU!Wanda + ATM!Peter: A Crossover Pairing of two different iterations of the characters. Each of them has lost their twin, so they find each other.

Controversies

  • Incest: Since they're twins, the ship is subject to same general controversy that all incestuous ships are.
