Mixed Media is a slash Harry and Johnny crossover 300 plus-page anthology. It has the subtitle, "Who's On First?"

Ruth Kurz writes: "'Mixed Media' will probably be my last H/J zine. I plan to include in it all stories I've received from readers, including responses to Double Play, which I'll put in a section called Tying Up Loose Ends. Naturally, if I receive more stories, or happen to finish one of my own, I'll print them." [1]

Summary

"First a collection of cross-universe stories by many authors. Harry & Johnny meet the Yellow Rose crowd; Hardcastle & McCormick; Simon & Simon; Kirk & Spock; Hunter & Dee Dee; Bodie & Doyle; Dempsey & Makepeace; Vas & Dex; Miami Vice; Remington Steele; and Airwolf. The last section, Tying Up Loose Ends, has the readers' responses in story and poem to the Starsky & Hutch-H/J zine, Double Play. This is a just-for-fun departure from the usual consistent universe contributions of cards, sayings, thoughts of H/J and love. It is compiled and beautifully covered with photocopies of Chris Lubs' handsewn needlework bears." [2]

Reactions and Reviews

Ruth Kurz did a zine called Mixed Media, which was very cute and clever. She took her Harry and Johnny characters and crossed them with, well, everybody! I can't even remember all the pairs (and singles, such as Colombo) who pop up in this novel. But Milt and Mark feature very prominently in this zine, as Mark is pining after Milt and looking to Harry and Johnny for some guidance and support. Nice parallel relationship between these two pairs. [3]
