WangCheng or ZhanCheng are portmanteaus for the rarepair slash pairing depicting Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji of the Chinese danmei novel Mo Dao Zu Shi and its many adaptations. Jiang Cheng is the adopted/martial brother of Wei Wuxian, the protagonist of the novel, and Lan Wangji is the deuteragonist.
In English-speaking fanspaces, the pair may be shipped together as a fling; both are grieving during Wei Wuxian's death, so some headcanon that the two indulge in a relationship because of it. This pairing also often focuses on kidfic, because both are raising small children during the period of Wei Wuxian’s death. There may be elements of the following:
- Enemyslash - Jiang Cheng may be jealous of Lan Wangji's place in Wei Wuxian's affections, while LWJ may blame JC for WWX's death.
- Grief - Jiang Cheng may be mourning his martial brother, and Lan Wangji his zhiji
