HP Rarities was a fic and art exchange dedicated to Harry Potter rarepairs. It ran for three years.
2008 Fest
The first HP Rarities Exchange was held from January to May 2008. The moderators were softly_sweetly and potion_lady. The fest produced 50 total fanworks, 47 fics and three pieces of fanart. Twenty were het and thirty were slash or femslash.[1]
Excluded Pairings
In order to avoid the ambiguity of the term "rare pair," the fest allowed all pairings except for those on a predefined list of popular pairings. The following ten pairings were prohibited in the first exchange:[2]

2009 Fest
The second HP Rarities Exchange was held from January to May 2009. The moderators were softly_sweetly and potion_lady. Sixty-three total fanworks were produced, 60 fics and three pieces of fanart.[3]
Excluded Pairings
The number of excluded pairings was reduced from the previous year's ten to six. Severus/Hermione, Draco/Hermione, Remus/Sirius, and Severus/Remus were removed from the list while the others remained:

The third HP Rarities Exchange was held from January to May 2010. The moderators were softly_sweetly, potion_lady, and nursedarry. Fifty-five total fanworks were produced, 51 fics and 4 pieces of art.[4]
Excluded Pairings
The number of excluded pairings was increased to 14. Ten were the same as the 2008 list, and four additional pairings were added: Tonks/Remus, Draco/Ginny, Sirius/Severus, and Albus Severus/Scorpius. The complete list was:
