Issue 1
Doin' the Job 1 is a collection of 12 stories and 127 pages long. It was published in 1988 (there was a second printing in 1989). Artwork and stories by L.A. Adolf, Cathy Fraser, L.A. Carr, C.V. Woldow and more.
From an ad in GAZ:
Comb bound reprint, with a monochrome laminated cover by Dani. Interior illos by Johanna Bolton, highlighting stories by LA Carr, LA Adolf, Kitty Woldow, and others. Lots of bonking on Martin, lots of great smarm, and a couple scenes and a plot device deemed good enough to be lifted virtually whole for the second movie.

Issue 2
Doin' the Job 2 was published in May 1991 and contains 145 pages.
The art is by Frank Liltz, Ruth Kurz, Pauli, Sheila Paulson, and Doranna Shiner.
It was edited by Kitty Woldow.
The editor apologized for this zine being more than a year late to see print and thanked the contributors for being patient with this delay.

Even better than the first, this zine already has acover by Frank Liltz and more fiction from LACarr. Lisa Adolf, Cinda Gillilan, Kitty Woldow, L Neil Smith, and more, with art by Johanna Bolton, Doranna Shiner, Paull. and Ruth Kurz.. But that doesn't mean you can't join, too! Looking for more smarmy stories and interior artwork, but not too thrilled about poetry or other filler. Let's give them something great to swipe for the third movie! Final production will be perfect bound, with usual standard of quality in printface and paper you've come to expect from me.
The editorial:
It's a different computer that hums to itself, in a different apartment, but the basic situation is the same. The zine is laid out and ready to carry to the printer, and I can't think of anything particularly clever to say in the editorial. I suppose I could apologize for the fact that this issue is over a year late, but most of you are aware of the reasons for that. I would like to thank the artists and authors who worked hard to get their submissions completed in time for the expected printing date, only to end up waiting another year before seeing their work in print. Those deserving special acclaim are Doranna Shiner, for her extra assistance with editing as well as illustration, and Lisa Adolf for finally losing her patience and providing me that last bit of motivation needed to actually finish the zine. I'd also like to thank Mark for hiring me, which made this both as dreadfully late as it is, and feasible at all.
A number of zines have the distinction of having printed work by authors who later went on to professional careers of renown. There are not quite so many that can boast of printing a story written by a famous pro after he has the publication of thirteen novels to his credit. I am, of course, referring to L. Neil Smith, author of "The Probability Broach", the Lando Calrissian trilogy, and a whole bunch of other great books which you should all rush out now and try to buy copies of. Seriously. I am quite proud to be the only zine in fandom able to flaunt a submission of this caliber (.45, of course!). And yes, I will be quite insufferable about it for some time to come.
Piracy Indication; This zine was originally printed on Simpson Script Blue Text Valley Forge Parchment, and perfect bound with Neenah Paper Whitestone CLASSIC Laid coverstock. If the copy you're holding now does not have these quality components, you have purchased a cheesy fake ripe-off edition and should promptly do something violent and awful to the slimeball who sold it to you. Tell them I sent you.
Will there be a DtJ #3? Yup. Will it be as late as this one? I sure hope not, but I'm not making any promises. You may expect it to begin accepting submissions shortly after the third LW movie releases, and to be in print rather a bit before the fourth film. As for the relative lack of DeBurghian universe stories in this issue, that is due to the fact that most of the ones near completion happen to be those detailing the end of the cycle, and it didn't seem appropriate to print all the morbid pieces when the guys are still going strong. When Mel, Danny, or Richard declares they've had enough of Martin and Roger, I'll publish those. Until then, you’ll just have to imagine how smarmy they are.
This zine is not dedicated to anyone or anything specific, except the truth in those beer commercials - here's to good friends.

[That Old Black Magic]: Such a wonderful story! Not a single dull moment. I loved it so much. It's so big also! With a Rich story full of excitement and action. And even some h/c moments. So amazing! I want to read it again. The ending like was perfect also haha, I don't even know what to say it's just such a jem. [1]
[That Old Black Magic]: This, this is just amazing. I have been slowly working my wat through this fic through the last month or so, and I am just blown away. Your characterization of Riggs and Murtaugh is fantastic; you NAILED their dynamic, so much so I feel like this was an actual storyline from one of the movies. And Dom??? I love her so much. Her and Marty's easy banter brings out the long history they have and it's wonderful to read. And all the twists and turns, second guessing, the convoluted yet mysterious enemy, it was a perfect thriller! I am so impressed with your writing and this fic. It is by far the best Lethal Weapon fic, and by and large one of best best fics in general, that I have ever read. Thank you for posting it here so we could enjoy it; I know I certainly have <3 [2]
