Do we have a page about talk show hosts, etc. confronting the stars with fanfiction and fanart? Just saw a YouTube clip from The Graham Norton Show in 2014 and another one in 2016 where Michael Fassbender & James McAvoy had to comment on Charles/Erik fanart (also they read AO3 fic summaries) and I remembered that they did the same with Lord of the Rings and X-Files in 2004 (see The_Theban_Band#Visibility). We could make screencaps, identify the artists and give context to their art, maybe their reactions to being on TV? --Doro (talk) 22:08, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
- Violating the Fourth Wall--aethel (talk) 22:38, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
- Close, but that's not quite what I had in mind. This is not about the Fourth Wall. I would like something that is more focussed on the fanwork/fan side of things. --Doro (talk) 22:48, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
- Not about this? Violating_the_Fourth_Wall#Confronting_the_Subject_of_Fanworks_with_a_Fanwork_About_Them --aethel (talk) 23:12, 26 March 2017 (UTC)

Before I Go Any Further
Am I doing the right things with categories on these articles? I'm trying to make a "Press Commentary by Year" (like Meta by Year), and if the fandom or topic is big enough, a separate category for that called for example "Star Trek Press Commentary". I'm unsure of the existing "Perspectives on Harry Potter Fans" category as it feels redundant, and I don't know if it's needed. To be honest, I'm feeling more than a bit over my head in this little project, but I want to do something to make things more find-able, as a lot of these articles simply have a date category and that's not helpful. Could someone assist and/or advise? --MPH (talk) 15:01, 10 March 2017 (UTC)
- I would like to propose that we rename "Press" as "News Media." It's clearer, and also doesn't overlap in possible definition with "publisher." --MPH (talk) 13:20, 20 March 2017 (UTC)
- I think both fandom and date subcategories are a good idea! I made the "Perspectives on Harry Potter Fans" category a while ago and had the same dilemma as you regarding what to call it and how to organize things. I would be happy to just rename it to "Harry Potter Press Commentary" or "Harry Potter News Media" or whatever we decide to call them. I don't think there's anything in it other than what we're calling "Press" now so I agree that it'd be redundant to have both. --sparc 03:38, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you, sparc, for your thoughts. Let's wait to see if folks think "News Media" is a good title. We also need to figure out how Category:Perspectives on Fans fits into this whole thing. I'm not savvy enough on "parent" and "child" and "categories" to know. --MPH (talk) 12:17, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
