Archie's Weird Fantasy

Archie's Weird Fantasy was a play written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa in 2003, which depicted Archie Andrews coming out of the closet and moving to New York. The day before the play was scheduled to open, Archie Comics issued a cease and desist order, threatening litigation if the play proceeded as written. The play responded by Filing Off The Serial Numbers and opened a few days later as "Weird Comic Book Fantasy" with the character names changed.[1] Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa went on to become Archie's Chief Creative Officer in 2014.
