Albus Severus Potter is the youngest son of Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley. He appears in the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and again as a main character in the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

In fandom, Albus is often referred to by both his first and middle names even though he is only ever called "Albus" or "Al" in canon. This is usually done to distinguish him from his namesake, Albus Dumbledore, and to create clever acronyms.

Pairings

Albus Severus/Scorpius is by far the most popular ship involving Albus, and probably the most popular nextgen ship in general. It is often seen as the next-gen version of the Harry/Draco ship.

Albus Severus/Rose is also a somewhat common pairing, and is sometimes seen as the next-gen equivalent of Harry/Hermione, although with cousin incest.

The lack of different pairings might be because there aren't many known next-gen characters that aren't related to Albus.

Reactions to the name "Albus Severus"

HP fandom's reactions to the fact that Harry named his son after Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape are mixed to negative – see Epilogue? What Epilogue? for more about negative reactions to the epilogue of The Deathly Hallows. Fandom opinion on Dumbledore is mixed and opinion on Snape is largely negative.

Many criticize the name as making no sense of Harry's character. In the epilogue, Harry says of Snape, "One of them was a Slytherin and he was probably the bravest man I ever knew." Many question whether or not this is in character, as Snape tormented Harry for years when he was his student, and Harry only found out that Snape was on his side shortly before the man's death. There is part of further mixed opinion about whether or not the attempt to redeem Snape's character is convincing.

Because of widespread disagreement with this choice, You Were Named After became a popular meme that imagined other possible names. This includes examples of characters more deserving of Harry's respect, and examples of intentionally ridiculous names.
