West Wing Recs
If Josh were weather, he'd be a hurricane. A snowbound Josh and Sam by Lynna Bright. Just...lovely.
Cat's In The Cradle by Sid is a deeper look at the rift between Sam and his father. Great Sam characterization! And an interesting and wonderful take on his dad.
For a look at a possible beginning for the complex friendship that is Josh and Sam see N.'s 1984. Not only does it have good political detail it features a relationship between Josh and a original character (non-romantic!) that's extremely well done. And it has Josh and Noah, too!! Gotta love Noah!! He's one of the characters that I would love to see used more. But if I can't have Noah I'll take Leo any day... Also check out Variations On Black And White because TWW is, after all, a political show and some of the best fanfiction keeps that premise close to heart. And on that note (plus some fantastic Josh angst) Thursday At Half Past Three is a AU epic that explores another possiblity for how the MS disclosure may have played out. This was my introduction to N.'s writing (and now I'm lucky enough to beta for her!) and it keeps me coming back. The detail, the plotting, the characterizations all are excellent. A must read!
Help Wanted and its sequel Off To Camp are original scripts by Ellie. I'm not usually a fan of script format but these really did something for me. Good general pieces with intriguing storylines. She has more sequels planned, so write her and let her know we're waiting...patiently, of course ;)
Meggie did this poignant post-ITSOTG piece called Shellfish in which Sam reflects on his relationship with Josh as the latter lays in the hospital. I'm a total sucker for Josh n' Sam, and this one really moved me.
Friend of The Father by Bluejeans is an uncoventional story told through letters between old friends. Have I mentioned that I love Noah and Leo? Well here Bluejeans give us a look at all the highs and lows during their friendship.
Lyman's Might's Blackjack holds a special place because it features 16th Street Mall! (if you're not from Denver this means nothing to you) More than that though it's a look at Josh n' Sam after Noel all wrapped up in beautiful prose.[1]

Fanfic With Footnotes I'm so not a Josh/Donna shipper so most of the series, while good reading, do little for me. However, the stand alones, post-eps and CJ's Corner make it well worth the trip.
FanFiction.net a free posting site for scores of different fandoms.
Jae Gecko created a "Turning Universe" in which Sam and Josh are lovely and broken and bound to one another. Longer stories that are well crafted and beautifully plotted.
k collected is mostly Sports Night, fantastic and beautiful, with a smattering of West Wing that shouldn't be missed.
Lyman's Might weaves stories with slash/het/gen themes all mixed into one. Not to mention her beautiful prose.
Melina Wilson Absolutely check out Blood From a Stone. A series of vignettes set right after Bartlet's announces his plans to run for reelection. Manchester makes these slightly A/U, but Melina's captured the characters so wonderfully that I've no trouble picturing these scenes.
N. weaves the political and personal in superb fashion. Her quiet and wrenching characterizations play nicely against the sharp, intelligent plots.
