Overview
Jae Gecko is a fan writer who has written longer, generally canon-compliant stories in a variety of fandoms. Within a single fandom, her stories are usually linked to each other, sometimes explicitly (as a series), and sometimes more loosely. She has stated that her fannish writing is inspired by answering "a question or a series of questions" about "things the source text has dangled in front of us but not explained on its own."[1]
History
Jae began writing fanfiction in 2001 in the West Wing fandom, where she was best known for her series of Josh/Sam stories called the Turningverse. She remained active in that fandom until 2006.
In 2007, she began writing the Countrymileverse series of Friday Night Lights stories, a group of intertwining stories set in the characters' near-future. Between 2010 and 2011, she wrote several stories in the The Good Wife fandom, focusing first on Kalinda Sharma and later on Alicia Florrick.
In 2012, she returned to her roots in the West Wing fandom to write A Great And Gruesome Height, a femslash story about the narrator of the Dar Williams song "Iowa" set as a West Wing fusion.
Current work
Since 2013, she has been writing primarily in the small fandoms for the FX television show The Americans and author Tana French's Dublin Murder Squad series. She also co-moderates a discussion community for The Americans on dreamwidth.
