I've been a fan all my life, officially joined online fandom when I posted my first The X-Files fic in early 1997. I'm a fandom butterfly who rarely stays active in any fandom over a year, though I drift back to my favorites on occasion. Most of my contributions are fanfic, and the odd essay/rant; I'm not much of an organizer. I've been volunteering with the OTW since 2009, mostly as a tag wrangler.
I entered fandom as a hardcore gen/smarm/h/c fan and wasn't brought around to slash until Stargate: SG-1, and yaoi a bit earlier. I still naturally gravitate more toward gen and h/c than romance, but I have my slash and het OTPs.
I started as a fan of Western shows, then moved into animanga fandom in 2000 with Final Fantasy VIII and Fushigi Yuugi as my gateways. Gravitation was my first boys love animanga; One Piece is my favorite manga series and is likely to remain so. In 2007 I got back into Smallville and then moved into Stargate: Atlantis, then went completely old-school with The Man From U.N.C.L.E.. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (which is to say, Loki) sucked me in for a while, and as of the beginning of 2014 I'm stuck in Night Vale.
