I've been lurking here for a while and decided to join so I could add what I know to the history of femslash/sapphic fandom.

My username comes from a Taylor Swift song called dorothea, and the fact that I am gay.

Fandom History

I've been involved in fandom since 2007/2008, when I was starting middle school. I was really into the show Ben 10 and would go on wiki forums to see what other people were saying about it, which is how I eventually found out about fanfiction. After this I started reading fanfiction for Hannah Montana, Sonny With A Chance, and High School Musical, including some RPF about the actors. I sometimes ended up lurking in girlslash forums on LiveJournal, especially the Demi Lovato/Selena Gomez related groups. This was my introduction to femslash.

Since then, I have been part of the Doctor Who, OUAT, Glee (team Faberrittana!), Killing Eve, She-Ra, and most recently, Taylor Swift and Supergirl communities. As I've gotten older and busier, fandom has occupied less of my time, but it still holds a special place in my heart as a queer woman and I strongly believe that it should be documented in general.
