Dickinson is a modernized TV show adaptation of the life of Emily Dickinson, created by Alena Smith for Apple TV. It has two seasons, the second finishing airing on February 26, 2021. It was renewed for a third season in October of 2020.[1] The show has gained a queer following because of how the show portrays Emily's relationship with her best friend Sue as explicitly romantic and sexual.

Shipping

A large number of fans joined the fandom because of Emisue (Emily Dickinson/Sue Gilbert). Emisue is by far the most popular pairing in the fandom.

Some fans ship the RPF ship Ella Hunt/Hailee Steinfeld, also known as Huntfeld.

Season 2

On Tumblr and Twitter some fans were vocal about their dislike of the second season, citing things such as perceived queerbaiting (though Emily and Sue have acted on their feelings for each other), the lack of screen time with Emily and Sue together, and the changed personality of Sue.

However, many fans also voiced their continued appreciation for the show and were disheartened by the negativity in the tags.
