Active in fandom for more than 25 years, Artaxastra started out as a contributor to Star Wars paper zines. Her first story was accepted by KES Tibbett's Kessel Rundown a month short of her 14th birthday, a year before Return of the Jedi came out. While the zine had a policy of only accepting stories by people 18 and over, it was as hard then as now to verify the age of fans. Over the next few years she continued to contribute to Kessel Rundown and also to Bullwhips and Blasters, a crossover Star Wars/Raiders of the Lost Ark zine. Her work also appeared in the Battlestar Galactica fanzine Pegasus Post, edited by Captain Danae, and the Star Trek Log of the USS Centurion.

After a hiatus from fanzines, in which she concentrated on costuming and role play, Artaxastra returned to fandom with the rise of online fandom, penning Star Trek stories set in the Next Gen and DS9 era. She is also known for her X-Men Movieverse stories and was a regular on the X Men communities of LiveJournal, where she won several awards including the 2005 X Day award for Long Story with "His Mother's Eyes."

More recently, she has been prolific in the Pirates of the Caribbean fandom and has been a regular contributor to the Livejournal communities Sparrabeth and Pirategasm. Artaxastra writes het, gen and slash, and is best known for long series stories with multiple plots and pairings.

Artaxastra has been partnered with Penknife for nearly fifteen years.
