Thirteen (commonly stylized as thirteen) is a 2003 R-rated drama about two thirteen-year-old girls, Tracy Freeland (Evan Rachel Wood) and Evie Zamora (Nikki Reed). It contains themes involving drug use, underage sex, crime, and self-harm. Nikki Reed co-wrote the screenplay, which is loosely based on her own life.

Fanworks are primarily Evie/Tracy femslash. In canon, the two have a physically affectionate relationship including scenes in which they "practice" kissing each other and attempt to seduce an older neighbor together. Evan Rachel Wood described the relationship as "kind of an obsession between the two girls" with Tracy feeling confused about "Do I want to be this girl or do I want to kiss this girl?"[1] A fandom myth that a "lesbian sex scene" between Tracy and Evie was filmed but cut circulated online, driven by an IMDb trivia item.[2][3]

Other fanworks explore Evie's strained relationships with her brother Mason and struggling single mother Mel (Holly Hunter).

In January 2014, Evan Rachel Wood and Nikki Reed hosted a live Q&A to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the film. They took questions from fans live and ahead of time on Twitter with the hashtag #ThirteenQandA.[4]
