The reel is a vidding review and rec LJ community created by deathisyourart in 2005 to offer vidders in depth feedback on their vids. It was open to any media fandom (including anime). Vidders would sign up to submit their vids to be reviewed and volunteer reviewers would do likewise. Vid reviewers could also submit vid recs of their own. Volunteers and fandoms rotated on a monthly basis. Feedback was often quite direct and honest, with an emphasis on constructive criticism.[1] More details can be read at the FAQ here.[2]
The community was active between August 5 2005 and June 2009, with the last review being posted on June 2, 2009. Approximately 178 vids were reviewed with 192 vids being recommended.
