Theodore/Pansy is a Harry Potter pairing involving Theodore Nott and Pansy Parkinson, Slytherin students in Harry's year at Hogwarts.
History
Theodore first appeared (apart from a mention of his surname in the first book) in Harry Potter and Order of the Phoenix, published in 2003. Fan interest in him peaked around August 2004, when J.K. Rowling posted extra material about Theodore on her official site, giving some background on the character and describing him as a "clever loner".
The fandom RPG Harry Goes Down started August 2004 and soon began to feature a romance between Theodore and Pansy (tied_in_notts and snarky_parky, respectively).
Harry Goes Down led to interest in the ship and the creation of the Theodore/Pansy community nott_in_parks in October 2004.[1] Some early fanworks posted to the community were based on events from Harry Goes Down.[2] reddiej wrote an essay advocating for the pairing and encouraging others to join the community. The essay was later adapted and posted to ship_manifesto, and a link to the essay was posted at the Pansy archive Pink Frilly Robes.[3]
A ...cruisin'... thread at FictionAlley Park was started in November 2004 for links to Theodore/Pansy works. The FictionAlley Park SCUSA thread, named "HMS Conspirator", was started in July 2005, but received less than a page's worth of posts until 2007. The topic grew in popularity after the publication of Deathly Hallows and received almost twenty pages of comments over two threads as of the last post in December 2008.
As of June 2017, there are 58 works tagged Theodore Nott/Pansy Parkinson on Archive of Our Own.[4]
