Talk:Timeless (TV series)
Canon information, use of images
Hello Sasschronicles and Twilight-Deviant! I appreciate both your efforts on getting this page off of the ground and adding information about the fandom. However, I have a few concerns over some of the information regarding canon that you've been adding. I'd like to suggest some changes.
- The page is very long, at 50,000 bytes. You may want to consider creating individual articles for long topics such as lists of ships, fan theories, and so on. It will not only make the article easier to read, but give each topic a dedicated space where you can go more indepth.
- The canon information section is very long. Typically, Fanlore avoids adding beat-by-beat plot details for the canon of a fandom, as that's not Fanlore's purview. Instead, we try to go for a high-level overview. If you would like an example, I wrote a film plot synopsis over at The Thing (1982).
- On a similar note, we avoid using official logos, cast photos, and so on for similar reasons. Instead, Fanlore uses fan art, fan posters, and other unofficial/fannish content, as fandoms and the creative works of fans are Fanlore's focus. Are there any fanart pieces for Timeless that you think represent the show well, or reflect different aspects of the fandom?
Let me know if you have any questions regarding Fanlore or my feedback, or if I can help you out with editing. :) Pinky G Rocket (talk) 00:19, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
- Following on from Pinky G Rocket's points, the canon section should generally be used to back up the fandom section. So usually a brief summary + any particular elements of canon that's especially relevant to the trends in fandom. It's also why exceptions can be made with behind the scenes or official photos if it's an especially relevant influence on the fandom and the fanworks produced - like it lead to an entire new trope or a slew of new fics in a particular genre, or it gets used as a reference for artists etc, for instance. But even then, try and keep it infrequent. -- OfMonstersAndWerewolves (talk) 19:32, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
- I removed all the cast and behind the scenes photos from the page, and I will delete the photos -- Kingstoken (talk) 17:24, 12 August 2022 (UTC)

Hello and thanks for the comments Pinky G Rocket and Kingstoken. Would you be so kind to direct us to the sections of Fanlore policy you're referring to so we could better understand the reason for stuff having been deleted. Would like to understand whether it's indeed a platform rule or merely a suggestion for better content arrangement, where it's undefined what "keeping it infrequent" means. Thanks for your support. Sasschronicles UPD. I've read the Help/FAQs/About sections thoroughly, all is clear now. :) Thanks. Sasschronicles.
